About this wood

Hailed as a unique place to visit - this site, once part of an ancient royal hunting forest, emerged from a period of neglect as a site bursting with historic, ecological and social interest. Neglected and overgrown during the 1970s and 80s, when it also fell foul of the great storm of 1987, the wood’s fortunes began to change in the 90s, with the formation of the Friends of Park Wood.. Access was improved, sycamore and laurel cleared and restoration work undertaken.
