About this wood

Set in a countryside haven, Whittle Dene is one of the first stretches of wooded land you come across when travelling west of Newcastle. Wildlife thrives in this secluded piece of ancient woodland. The range of plant and insect life here benefits from coppicing which allows more light to reach the woodland floor and thereby encourages flowers.
