About this wood

These linked woods provide a quiet retreat. Their isolation keeps visitor numbers low and wildlife interest high. But the visitor is well catered for with a car park, information board and over one mile of footpaths. A circular route from the car park leads through a newly planted area, past a pond into New Covert, a wet woodland dominated by birch with willow and alder, and into a clearing – a favourite haunt for barn owls at twilight. Old ditches beside the path mark the wood’s boundaries as well as providing drainage.
