About this wood

High on the list of “must see” woods is this national nature reserve with its vast expanse of ancient woodland populated by huge old oaks that feel centuries old. Wormley Wood is mentioned in 6th century documents about Ermine Street, which runs east of the wood. Today it is noted for birds such as hawfinch, redstart and woodpeckers and its fungi, mosses and ferns, flourishing by pond and stream.
