Celebrating woodland and the outdoors
Why not enjoy the last days of summer having some fun with your family and do something for the environment! Join the Woodland Trust Scotland and Muckhart Nature Park Association in celebrating woodland and the outdoors at Geordie’s Wood on Saturday 22nd September.
The Woodland Trust Scotland has provided an area of land to the Nature Park Association, enabling them to manage it for the benefit of the local community. For the past two years the Association has worked with the local community in the planning and design of the nature park. The woodland festival will celebrate the first steps in turning these ideas into reality.
There is something for everyone at the festival including tree planting, wildflower sowing, face painting, wood crafts, chainsaw sculpture demonstrations, pottery and artwork from local artists.
There will be a special showing of the inspirational, hilarious, award winning puppet show, The Man Who Planted Trees by the Puppet State Theatre Company, based on the book by Jean Giono. There will only be one afternoon performance at 2.15pm .
The fun starts at 11.00am and will run until 3.30pm
If you would like to participate in tree planting activities, please bring your own planting spade and remember to wear stout walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing. Dogs must be kept on leashes. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Geordie’s Wood
Geordie’s wood is a 235 hectare area of improved grassland, rough hill grazing and exotic conifer woodland. It was purchased by the Woodland Trust in 2004, with support from BP through the Scottish Forest Alliance (SFA), Forestry Commission Scotland and the active support of the local community, for the purpose of working with them to create a mosaic of new native woodland and open ground habitats to promote public access. It is located near Muckhart, by Dollar, 15 miles southwest of Perth on the southern edge of the Ochil Hills.
