Growing list of celebrities support Lang Craigs campaign
Two more stars have joined the growing list of celebrities supporting the Woodland Trust Scotland’s Lang Craigs appeal.
Harry Potter and Cracker star Robbie Coltrane and actress Elaine C. Smith have joined Carol Smillie, Kirsty Young and Joanna McLeod in lending their voice to the fund-raising plans for Lang Craigs.
In 2009, the Trust launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to acquire 240 hectares of land at Lang Craigs. The site offers an amazing opportunity to secure this hidden gem and fulfil its ambition to create a woodland legacy for future generations.
Years of neglect have degraded its natural environment but the site offers fantastic opportunities for native woodland creation and community involvement with the promise of accessible green space. The Trust has a vision of Lang Craigs becoming an intrinsic part of the community and the site has great potential for offering family days out, rambling, picnics, somewhere for quite contemplation or a place of learning.
Robbie Coltrane said of the project: “This sounds like an excellent idea. It will be a good amenity for the area, and a fine way to involve the local young people with a chance to get digging! I hope it all goes well”
Echoing his thoughts, Elaine C Smith said: “Good luck to the Woodland Trust in their quest to buy Lang Craigs. This would be a wonderful acquisition for the people of Glasgow and the surrounding area and would reap benefits for generations to come”
