Heartwood Forest's disappearing bluebells
Photos taken by volunteer photographer Judith Parry at Heartwood Forest near St Albans highlight the lateness of bluebells' arrival this year.
The photos were taken on 11 April 2012 and again on the same date at the same locations in the wood this year. We had received over 1,000 records of bluebells across the UK this time last year whereas this year we have only received only a handful.

Man Booker Prize judges plant 'booker dozen' at Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Wood
Friday 8 March saw the judges of the 2012 Man Booker Prize for Fiction reunited as they travelled to the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Wood (QEDJW) in Leicestershire to plant trees with the Trust.
These trees will become a living commemoration of the ‘Booker Dozen’ – the 12 titles longlisted for the 2012 prize.

Archaeological investigations reveal rich history of Brede High Woods
The Trust has completed the first year of archaeological investigations at Brede High Woods near Sedlescombe, working with Chris Butler Archaeological Services as part of a £50,000 project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
Over 100 local volunteers have signed up to help reveal a number of important historic remnants.

7-year transformation captured on camera in Essex woodland
A Woodland Trust volunteer photographer has captured the transformation of Belhus Chase near Aveley in Essex.
Glyn Baker from South Ockendon has taken photos from the same point since 2005, highlighting the startlingly quick transformation from small saplings to semi-mature woodland.
