Staff from Frontline part of the BGL Group, one of the UK’s largest insurance groups, left their day to day office jobs behind to carry out woodland conservation work for their annual team away-day.
The team, based in Peterborough, helped the Woodland Trust look after Archers Wood, near Sawtry. This latest activity follows Frontline’s recent success in raising £300,000 for the charity over the past two years.
The money raised by Frontline’s ibuyeco insurance brand will give hundreds of community groups in the UK the opportunity to create small woodlands of their own. These woodlands will brighten up neighbourhoods and enhance the lives of many people living there.
During the woodland activity day Frontline staff were split into groups, which helped conserve the woodland by coppicing as well as working on fence removal. The aim of the day was to promote team building as well as to inspire Frontline staff to take an active interest in looking after nature in the area.
Sue East from the Woodland Trust said: “Frontline is one of the Woodland Trust’s biggest corporate supporters so we are delighted that it is helping to conserve one of our woods.
“There is nothing like getting outside and exploring woodland, with all of the sounds and natural beauty it offers. I’m glad the Frontline staff took a lot away with them from their visit and I hope it brought them closer together as a team.”
Andy Bord, Managing Director of Frontline said “we have had a long standing relationship with the Woodland Trust through our ibuyeco brand and it is great that we are able to complement the financial fund raising success by helping to conserve this local woodland. It is an ideal opportunity for team building whilst working with our Community Partners”.
The £300,000 has been raised through the sale of car insurance through the ibuyeco brand. Every time a person signs up or renews their car insurance, they get the option to choose for the Woodland Trust to receive a £5 donation.
