Help Disney celebrate Earth Day 2011

What's on in your local Disney Store this April

With the Easter holidays nearly here and a number of bank holidays to look forward to, keeping the kids entertained will be top of every parent’s mind this April. The 55 Disney Stores in the UK will be hosting an array of free events throughout the month to celebrate, ranging from activities to entertain the very little ones to something regal for little princesses.Disney is creating the Magical Wood at the Trust's Heartwood Forest

Winnie the Pooh Events
10th – 28th April

To celebrate the release of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Winnie the Pooh, in cinema’s 15th April, join us for events that are as charming, whimsical and as witty as Pooh and his friends.

Interactive storytelling sessions will introduce young children to the tale of Pooh’s journey to find some hunny which is derailed by a contest to find Eeyore a new tail! After listening to the story, children can take part in a craft session to make their very own tail for Eeyore. And then there’s an animation event where children can learn how to draw Piglet!

Events take place every Saturday from the 10th until the 28th of April, with additional events during the Easter holidays.

Take home the magic with the Interactive Story Book Winnie the Pooh. He tells his favourite hunny pot story and comes with a storybook so that children can read along. Hopefully by the time he’s finished there might not be a rumbly in his tumbly anymore, but if not you can get Pooh to sing a song, and watch him move along!

Earth Day
22nd  April

For the third year running, Disney Store is teaming up with the Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day, which takes place on 22nd April every year, is a global celebration to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.

Starting April 1st, £1 from the sale of each specially designed Earth Day re-usable shopping bag will be donated to the Woodland Trust.

Disney Store UK has already raised more than £213,000 for the Woodland Trust from sales of Earth Day re-usable shopping bags and 1 pence from the ongoing sales of every regular plastic carrier bag. This money has paid for over 22,000 trees to be planted in what will be become a 50 acre wood in Hertfordshire called ‘The Magical Wood’. This initiative also supports the countrywide work of the Woodland Trust, which manages 1,000 woods throughout the UK.

Royal Celebration
29th & 30th April

Be a princess at Disney Store with our own Royal Celebration! On Friday 29th and Saturday 30th April, you’re invited to get into the royal party spirit with our fabulous free events fit for royalty.

Stores will be hosting Crown decorating sessions as no Prince or Princess is complete without a gem-encrusted personalised crown! Come in store, decorate it and take it home afterwards. Once you have your crown, learn the official royal moves with our curtsy lesson. And for all children dressed in royal costume over those two days, there’s a free gift.

To celebrate the Royal Weekend, Disney Store has created a very special limited edition wedding dress. The Royal Wedding Dress, inspired by Cinderella’s gown, comes with its own tiara with veil and silk white bouquet. The Dress is exclusive to Disney Store and available in selected stores and online at disneystore.co.uk from 12th April, priced £50.
