What a card!

Woodland Trust credit card wins national award

The Woodland Trust credit card has been crowned winner in the Best Charity Credit Card Programme category at a glittering awards ceremony in London.

The card, run in partnership with The Co-operative Bank, was rewarded for its unique mechanism where donations are made to the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity when the card is taken out and then used.

A panel of industry experts praised both organisations for the ‘ethical synergy’ of the scheme.

So far, the card has raised £61,000 for the charity which the Woodland Trust has used to plant more than 2,000 trees and also to help protect and look after some of its 1,000 UK woods.

Picking the award up from BBC Radio 4 presenter John Humphrys, Nikola Smith from the Trust, said: “I am delighted to be accepting this award on behalf of everyone at the Woodland Trust who has worked on this very special partnership. The woodland created by this credit card will become a natural playground for people of all ages to enjoy forever, as well as provide vital habitats for thousands of species to thrive.”

Carol Karaca from The Co-operative Bank, said:
“The Co-operative Bank is thrilled to accept this award with the Woodland Trust. The Woodland Trust Credit Card has shown the strongest growth of all our partners. This is testament to its ingenuity and the lasting impact each new sign up has on the environment.”
