The Big Tree Plant

Let's create more woodland like this. Photo: Stuart CooperThe Woodland Trust welcomes The Big Tree Plant Initiative and is supporting its delivery.

It is a welcome and  important contribution  to raising the national profile of trees and the benefits they offer.

We welcome the government’s commitment through the  new grant scheme to provide a real incentive for community groups in particular to improve their local environments by planting trees.

We launched our More Trees More Good campaign in June to highlight the need for twice as many native trees and woods for the sake of wildlife and  the environment, and have had a fantastic response from schools, community groups, corporate partners and large landowners.

To make the necessary step change from 6 million to 20 million trees a year for the next 50 years so we continue to need anyone who can help to rise to the challenge and make tree planting a national habit.
