Plant trees to improve local areas

"We went through planning appeals, protests, the lot, to stop developers building on the land in our village.

We worked hard, campaigning and fundraising, to turn the land into a community wood that everyone could enjoy.

Just 11 years after planting, the trees are flourishing. Knowing trees are there, keeping the land safe from development and providing a haven for wildlife, is an achievement we are incredibly proud of"

Maureen Roberts
Chair of The Friends of Island Pond Wood, Oxfordshire

Native trees provide lots of benefits; for wildlife, for our health and well-being, for our homes, gardens, neighbourhoods and the wider environment.

Planting more trees can make a big difference to how people feel about where they live.

Woods, copses and hedges can all help enhance a local area; attracting birds and wildlife, providing a tranquil space for relaxation, creating new places to walk and exercise, and screening developments with a cloak of natural colour.

Studies show that living in lush, green areas has a positive impact not just on people’s health and well-being but helps enhance house prices too!
