Groups across the UK are transforming their neighbourhoods by planting trees. Why not join the fun?

"We were blessed with very fine weather for our hedge-planting event in Chipping Camden. Our aim is to re-generate a neglected, unsightly area of previously tenanted land, and our youngest planter, George, really got stuck in helping us.

"The children will walk past this hedge at least twice a day to and from school so we felt it was really important that they should be included. Afterwards we had the all-important soup lunch to reward all our efforts.

"We had such a great day improving a small part of our local neighbourhood and I would recommend tree planting to anyone who can find space to do it."

"Our purpose is to improve and enhance the environment and the quality of life for the community in Ham. A member of the group heard that the Woodland Trust were giving away free trees to communities and we thought it'd be a great idea to apply.

"The process was pretty straightforward to go through and it's great that there is a choice of both the number of trees you can apply for and even different mixes of tree species.

"We planted the 105 trees and in hindsight that was nowhere near enough and so we intend to apply for another tree pack in the Spring - 420 trees this time!

"It's great to think that the school pupils will see the saplings grow and even be able to harvest the fruits. We'd encourage anyone considering applying for a pack to do so...."
