Useful tree planting links for Wales

For centuries native trees and woods have provided services and benefits to farmers and society; shelter and shade, woodfuel and timber, managing and maintaining high quality water supplies, regulating flood flows and providing habitat for wildlife and game.

Creating and maintaining a landscape rich in native trees and woods is vital to help farming in Wales meet current challenges; in particular adapting to the impacts of a changing climate whilst supporting productive use of the land.

The Woodland Trust believes that benefits are more important today than ever before, and supports the Welsh Assembly Government’s target of creating 100,000 hectares of new woodland in Wales over the next 20 years.

That’s why we have produced the Trees for Farms in Wales brochure, in April 2011, posting copies to almost every farmer in Wales.
