The Flagship Diamond Wood
As part of this ambitious project we plan to create our own flagship Diamond Wood. We've located 460 acres in the heart of The National Forest in Leicestershire.
This diverse and sweeping landscape is ripe for woodland creation; dense hedgerows run across the land forming natural wildlife corridors, and to the east a 5ha lake provides habitat for assorted wetland species and wading birds. At the heart of the site, pebbled paths lead to the jewel in the crown – a rare surviving fragment of ancient woodland.
A total of 365,000 trees will be planted as a lasting tribute to the Diamond Jubilee. To thank you for helping us achieve this fantastic figure, we will record your contribution to the Jubilee Woods project in our new Royal Record.
If you attended an event at the flagship site, you can create your record here. If you have got involved through Plant a Tree, The Daily Mail or Emma’s Diary we have created a record for you! Use the tabs along the box to find your personal record that will be included in the published book at the end of the project which will be presented to Her Majesty The Queen and preserved in the British Library for years to come.
