The East Riding of Yorkshire is England’s second least wooded county with few people having woodland near their homes.
Statistics for the East Riding of Yorkshire show that the county is severely lacking in woodland, with cover at only 3.7%, compared to a 10% national average.
The percentage of people who have a wood they can visit within walking distance of home is also far below the national recommended average at just 2.7% compared to 15%.
This is the lowest in England. Urgent action is needed.
