The GuardianOur WoodWatch campaign is a partner in 'Piece-by-Piece' launched by the newspaper which aims to bring together groups working to save biodiversity from ill-conceived development plans. The Women's InstituteTeaming up with WoodWatch, the WI is encouraging members to discover what's worth protecting in their local area and to take action in a variety of ways.
The WI is also promoting our 'More Trees, More Good' initiative across its membership. RSPB - Northern IrelandWe worked hard to see an updated Forestry Bill in Northern Ireland in partnership with the RSPB (NI) for several years - success finally came in 2010. AirportWatchAn umbrella movement uniting national environmental organisations, airport community groups, and individuals opposed to unsustainable aviation expansion and its damaging environmental effects. Green AllianceWe developed the 'Green Standard' - a major initiative to set a standard for political debate and leadership on climate change and the environment - with coalition partners. The GA aims to promote sustainable development by ensuring that the environment is at the heart of decision-making. LocalWorksWe joined the coalition to engage with the Sustainable Communities Act along with over 100 national organisations, and were then invited to be part of the Steering Group working on an Amendment Bill. Stop Climate ChaosWe have been a member of this coalition for several years; the UK’s largest group of people dedicated to action on climate change and limiting its impact. The combined supporter base of more than 11 million people spans over 100 organisations. Stop Climate Chaos, ScotlandA coalition of around 60 organisations in Scotland that are campaigning on climate change. Together the coalition represents over two million people in Scotland, an amazing 40% of the population. Wildlife and Countryside LINKBringing together environmental voluntary organisations in the UK united by their common interest in the conservation and enjoyment of the natural and historic environment. For over twenty years the Woodland Trust has been an active member of this umbrella body which comprises of over 40 different conservation, access and animal welfare groups. We are also engaged with WCL regional and country equivalents. Scottish Environment LINKLINK is the forum for Scotland's voluntary environment organisations. It has over 30 member bodies represent a wide range of environmental interests with the common goal of contributing to a more environmentally sustainable society. Wales Environment LinkWales Environment Link (WEL) is a network of environmental and countryside organisations that work together for a better quality environment for Wales. Its 32 member organisations include some of the most dynamic, innovative and practical non-governmental organisations who, in turn, represent 259,000 subscribing members in Wales. |
