Closer than you think...

Ancient trees like this could be closer to home than you think. Photo: Edward ParkerYou don't have to head to country estates and untouched forests to find enormous, stately ancient trees like this one.

If you live in a town or city your local spot could be teeming with them - be they in your nearest park, by the river or even on your street.

The Trust has now launched Ancient Tree Hunt Goes to Town where we want you to explore your town, find ancient trees and add them to our ever growing list of ancient trees from across the UK.

London mayor Boris Johnson has given his backing to the campaign. "Trees are part of the lifeblood of our city, giving house-room to a huge variety of wildlife, as well as beautifying our parks and streets," he says.
