Summary of Job:
To lead a regionally based team delivering woodland creation on land outside the Woodland Trust's estate in England. This will be achieved by developing partnerships and delivering on the ground advice.
Duties:
- To inspire and lead a regionally based team to deliver on the ground results, aligned with Woodland Trust strategic priorities.
- To develop and maintain a network of landowners and potential partners and create opportunities for them to create new woodland.
- To ensure that your own networks and those of your team are professionally managed and priority is given to those most capable of delivering results.
- To liaise with the UK woodland creation support team using them to help deliver through generating warm contacts and providing bespoke advice for simple schemes
- To liaise with partnership and fundraising teams to provide appropriate technical advice and assist in key account management
- To liaise with the England Regional Managers team to help identify opportunities, account manage key contacts and track progress
- To monitor and regularly report on progress in terms of tree planting and development of partnership opportunities.
- To keep up to date with developments in farming practice, regulation and grants and advise the Trust on their potential impact.
Qualities Required:
- Professional: self motivated, flexible and well organised, you will be able to demonstrate experience of meeting targets to tight deadlines for internal and external customers. You will have a “can do” positive approach.
- Results driven: able to prioritise and motivate team to achieve results.
- Communication: proven communication skills, both verbal and written, and the confidence to represent the WT, both internally and externally, in a professional, competent and positive manner
Knowledge required:
- Specialist knowledge: proven experience of native woodland design, creation and management for multipurpose objectives and experience of woodland creation contract management and grant applications. A good understanding of national and regional environment and land use policies.
- IT literate: preferably with MS Office experience.
Experience Required:
- Leadership: a proven ability to lead, manage, develop and inspire a regionally based team.
- An experienced manager you will be able to set stiff targets and hold people to account, both those who you manage and those who you need to influence
- Networking: proven experience of developing relationships and leading and delivering effective partnerships and innovative projects
- Resource management: a proven ability to plan and prioritise activity to match objectives and resources
Qualification Required:
- Qualified to HND/degree level in forestry, land management or related field is desirable
A full driving licence and ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations. Regular overnight stays will be required.

It is expected that this post will be based at our Grantham office. However for an exceptional candidate This post could be home based. You will be expected to provide a suitable environment in which to create an office within your region. All necessary office equipment will be provided.
