What you need to know and do:
Our recruitment process
All our vacancies are advertised on our website under “Jobs”, we also advertise in local and national press and for some vacancies we use preferred agencies. All our vacancies will have a closing date by which you should send your CV and letter into us.
How do I apply?
At present, applications (CVs together with a covering letter) for all vacancies should be e-mailed giving reasons why you think you have suitable skills and experience for the role to recruitment@woodlandtrust.org.uk. You should also state where you saw the vacancy advertised.
What happens to your application?
We will acknowledge receipt of your CV and covering letter via e-mail. From then on your application will be handled by the Trust’s HR department who will work with the recruiting line manager to consider your application fairly and in accordance with our equal opportunities policy.
How do we keep you informed?
We fully understand the effort that can go into applying for a new job. You may contact the HR department by calling 01476 581111 with any queries or concerns that you may have and can expect a quick and professional reply.
As a charity, we endeavour to keep our administration and postage costs to a minimum, therefore if you are not contacted by the HR team within 28 days of the closing date, your application would not have been successful; however please feel able to re-apply to other role. For some roles we do experience a large response.
The interview
Almost all interviews take place at our Kempton Way offices in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Our offices are situated approximately 10 minutes walk from the railway station. When you arrive you will be greeted by our reception staff who will confirm who you will be seeing.
The interview will be conducted by a member of the HR team and the recruiting line manager(s). It is about you and your experience. Depending on the role you may have more than one interview. After your first interview you will always be advised what the next steps are in the process.
Assessments/Exercises
Depending on the role you may be asked to deliver a presentation at interview stage. This is a chance to show your ability to communicate to a group of people. You will be sent information prior to the interview day.
Other roles may require a written assessment, role play, typing or data entry assessment. Again, you will be advised what is required prior to attending your interview.
Keeping your details on file?
There may be occasions where we have been impressed by what we have read in your CV and letter but are not able to offer you an interview or employment on this occasion.
It could be that we have received such a large response and have had to be very specific in our initial selection or that there isn’t a specific job in the areas in which you are interested or experienced in.
On these occasions, we will hold your details on our recruitment database for up to a year. Within this period, should any vacancy arise to which we feel you would be suited, you will be contacted about the vacancy and with your consent you will be considered.
Your comments
We very much welcome your comments on your recruitment experience with the Trust. Your views are essential in helping us to continue to improve. Your comments should be e-mailed to hr@woodlandtrust.org.uk
