Ever since our founder Kenneth Watkins first started advertising ‘plant a tree’ for 50p and asking for the public’s help to acquire the first Trust woods in the Avon Valley way back in 1972, the Woodland Trust has been reliant on the support of its members to continue its work.
Today, the Trust has 194,000 members whose regular support enables us to commit to current and future conservation work. Each new member we acquire enables us to protect another half acre of woodland.
As well as our members, we also have many supporters who, while unable to provide a regular donation in the form of membership, nevertheless contribute to our work by attending events and/or planting trees, participating in one of our projects, purchasing items from our online shop or volunteering among other things. There are a many different ways that our supporters can take part.
