In Northern Ireland

We began working in Northern Ireland in 1996, thanks to a grant from the Millennium Commission. The grant was to create 50 new community woods as part of our Woods on your Doorstep project.

As with Woods on your Doorstep in England and Wales, which saw the creation of 200 new woods across the two countries, the project was all about public participation.

Each wood is close to a city, town or village and local people were involved throughout all stages of the process, from naming to planting their wood.
