The Landfill Communities Fund was created by the government to encourage and enable landfill operators to support environmental projects.
Through the scheme landfill operators receive a 90 per cent tax credit against any payment to environmental organisations such as the Woodland Trust that will fund projects that fit the criteria of the scheme.
Landfill and the Woodland Trust
The Woodland Trust has received in excess of £8 million through the Landfill Communities Fund over the last twelve years. This support was the crucial component which allowed each project to develop and flourish, and in fact without the funding support from the Landfill Communities Fund many of those important projects would not have happened.
In addition to the organisations we have listed on the left hand side of this page, we would also like to thank some of the many others with whom we have worked, including Essex Environment Trust, Yorventure, Lancashire Environmental Fund, Staffordshire Environmental Fund, Derbyshire Environmental Trust, Gloucestershire Environmental Trust and Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust (CWMET).
From planting trees with the local community at Cow Hollow Wood in Cambridgeshire to the urban woodland projects around Warrington and Runcorn in Cheshire, Landfill Communities funding has made a real difference to our woods, our visitors, the local environment and community groups.
