How do I 'unzip' a file?

Opening a zip file

If you are sent a zip file via e-mail, on a disk or you have downloaded one from the Woodland Trust. When you open the file your computer may automatically open the file using WinZip.

You then just drag the files you want from the WinZip software and place them somewhere on your computer.

Alternativly you can drag the zipped file into the WinZip window, tell WinZip where you want the unzipped files to go and then select 'unzip'.

Copies of all the documents from the zip file will automatically be stored in the folder you specified. You can now move them to wherever you want and open them at your leisure

Where can I get WinZip?

A free trial version can be downloaded from WinZip.com.

There are other file compression software available and can be found here.
