Ancient
woods are irreplaceable. They are our richest habitat for wildlife
and are the UK's equivalent of the rainforest. Across the UK ancient
woods are threatened by development. Right now the Woodland Trust is
dealing with over 400 ancient woods under threat from development
and in the last ten years twice that number have been threatened
with destruction or degradation.
