Are you a rising star? Enter our competition

We've teamed up with Farmers Weekly to launch a search for individuals aged 18-35, who are already making a real impact in the food and farming supply chain and are ones to watch for the future.

Our aim is to recognise and promote the talents of the next generation of farmers, agricultural professionals, academics, researchers and others in the food and farming supply chain.

We want to hear about those who are making their mark and changing things for the better – it doesn't matter whether it's on the family farm, in the laboratory, in a big multinational business or anywhere in-between.

We want to inspire young people from outside food and farming to consider this vibrant and fast-moving industry as a potential career choice.

We're accepting nominations from everyone – no matter what your relationship is to the nominee – family member, friend, manager, colleague or mentor. We will also welcome self-nominations.

The deadline for nominations is midnight 28 May 2017.

The winners' names will be announced as part of a special feature, which will appear on our blog and on the Farmers Weekly's website and magazine in July.

What makes a Rising Star?

We want to hear about young people in the agricultural industry who are making a mark – in any capacity.

It could be individuals who are doing their job fantastically and helping others do the same, whether it’s through tried-and-tested methods or through cutting-edge innovation.

It could be people who are influencing how policy makers and the public think of the farming sector.

They could be building their own business or working for someone else.

These people will be setting themselves out as potential leaders of the future.

Whether they’re a farmer or a field agronomist, a sales executive or a scientist, a consultant or contractor – or anything else in the farming and ancillary industries – we want to hear.

Are you or they:

  • Making a difference
  • Positive
  • Innovative
  • Focused
  • Inspiring others
  • Challenging the status quo
  • Pioneering
  • Forward-looking
  • Dynamic
  • Strong communicator
