Celebrating Volunteer Week at Oakfield Glen

To celebrate Volunteer Week in June and lend a helping hand to site management, we brought together Mid East Antrim Council, Citibank, 5th Carrickfergus Scouts and the Friends of Oakfield Glen and Bashfordsland volunteers as part of a river clean up and salmonberry bashing session at Oakfield Glen.

Interesting things found in the river and the woodland included a boiler cage, bikes, a sofa and even a shed!

Meanwhile over by the River Maine at Galgorm Wood, the Cullybackey Development Association, 1st Cullybackey Scouts, Cullybackey Army Cadet Force/Duke of Edinburgh Participants from C Company, 1st Battalion and Ballymena Air Cadets responded to our invitation to 'battle the balsam' and try to halt the tall, pink-flowered non-native species from taking over the woodland floor.

It's great to see so much practical involvement and help from volunteers on our estate in Northern Ireland and across the whole of the UK- we really appreciate all you do!
