Protecting woods

The Woodland Trust thinks it is important to protect all native woods and trees for their benefits to people and wildlife and for their own intrinsic beauty.

However, ancient woods and ancient trees are the ones we believe need the greatest amount of protection.

Our work to protect these takes a variety of approaches, from acquiring ancient woodland under threat to lobbying the government to protect and enhance trees within agricultural grant schemes.

There are also a number of ways in which you can help us save trees and woods, and you don't even have to get muddy to do it!
