Over 32 hectares of ancient woodland in Kent may be lost forever from plans to quarry into Oaken Wood.
Over 6,500 of you helped us to convince Secretary of State Eric Pickles to ‘call in’ the planning application for a public inquiry. This is great news! Thank you to all who helped achieve this.
We now have the chance to ensure that the plans are examined in detail.
The public inquiry is due to start in late November 2012. The Woodland Trust, along with Kent Wildlife Trust, is taking part and we are currently preparing our evidence to present to the Planning Inspector.
If you originally objected to the application by writing to Kent County Council you should receive a letter about this. You can read more about the process on their website.
Help us fight for Oaken Wood!
Emergency funds are still needed to allow us to challenge the proposals fully at public inquiry. Costs are mounting and we need to raise £75,000.
By sending a donation now you will be helping us to continue the fight for Oaken Wood, a rich and irreplaceable habitat.

We have been overwhelmed by your support so far! - with your help the Woodland Trust will do all it can to fight these plans.
There is hope yet for Oaken Wood...
